Marchesa designer, Georgina Chapman, is absolutely stunning at the Oscars

Marchesa designer, Georgina Chapman, who has designed dresses for Jessica Alba, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lopez and Hedi Klum, was radiant in her self-designed dress at the Oscars.  Her dress has a simple and elegant silhouette with detailed beading in the bodice.

Georgina offered styling tips for the rest of us saying that

"it all depends on your body type.  Your body type changes so much and everybody changes differently, so it really is a very personal thing and I think you just have to go with what you’re comfortable with"

"You have to embrace it. You enjoy it. It’s a few months of your life and it’s a special time in your life, so just enjoy"

I think that is great advice.  I had some feedback recently that commenting on pregnant celebrities contributes to everyday women feeling bad about themselves during their pregnancy.  I made the comment that the whole reason that I started this blog was not to make women feel bad about themselves but to give women ideas and inspiration on how to dress their changing body. As someone who has struggled to find clothes that fit well (I'm short), I really found it difficult to like my body during my pregnancy and that was partly due to the fact that I didn't know how to dress it.  Yes, it is just clothing but the way you feel about how you look has a huge impact on your confidence and that is why I spend my free hours plugging away at this blog.  I really welcome all feedback and comments - because it help me understand how you, as readers, feel about what I am saying and how I am saying it.   Thanks for being there.

Kim Kardashian and her eyelashes attend art gallery opening

Eyelashes aside, Kim looks stunning at the Mario Read art gallery opening.  Wearing a high necked black dress, black leather jacket and black heels, she looks fabulous!  Although I've talked about how much I don't usually like turtlenecks on short, big busted women, Kim's high necked dress actually looks pretty good.  I'm wondering if it is because the neck is an inch or so shorter than the usual turtleneck and Kim has her hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail which helps to elongate her upper half?

The other thing I like about Kim's look is the lack of fake tan.  It looks so much better than the too dark, too orange fake tan that she has been photographed in before.

Her hair and makeup are perfect, except for one glaring addition - the fake eye lashes.  This has become quite the trend in my non-celebrity world with friends sporting really long fake eye lashes.  I can't get on board this train I'm afraid.

By the way, does anyone think that Kim looks like Jennifer Lopez in the second photograph?

Jessica Simpson films a commercial wearing short bodycon dress

So apparently Jessica Simpson is filming a commercial in these photographs.  That would surely explain the hair.  I really really really don't like Jessica's hair styled in this way.  I prefer it like this, where it sits more naturally and looks more 'girl next door'.

The rest of her look is okay.  The bodycon dress is not my style but it looks alright on Jessica and she's kept the whole look simple with a black jacket and black heels.  Her hair and makeup though are really unflattering and ruin the whole look for me.  I would have liked to have seen her hair either less 'styled' or pulled back into a loose ponytail.

Malin Akerman in a cropped black cardigan that I must have!

Malin's Akerman's pregnancy is coming to an end and I have a little confession to make - I'm going to miss seeing her pregnancy style.  That's right, even though I took a while to get on the Malin Akerman 'edgy' style, I'm a full paying passenger now and I'm really going to miss it.

Here she is dressed in a blue maxi dress, cropped black cardigan and her motoboots.  That cardigan is divine - I want it so badly.  It would go with so many different outfits - imagine it with skinny jeans and a white tank with ballet slip ons (in any colour!).  Or with an a-line skirt.  Or a pair of leggings.

Hilaria Thomas, Alec Baldwin's wife, will remain vegan throughout her pregnancy

I don't know much about Alec Baldwin's wife other than she is 28 years old, a correspondent for E!, a yoga instructor, around 15 weeks pregnant and is a vegan.

The fact that she is a vegan is likely to get the most attention over her pregnancy and Hilaria recently tweeted:

How did you deal with all of this "I know better than you" advice when you were pregnant?' 

Hilaria has put together an interesting outfit in these photographs, dressed in black leggings with black leg warmers.  On the top half she is wearing a neon green shirt, layered under a beige open cardigan, black jacket and a leopard print scarf.  I really don't understand it at all.  Maybe she wore the leggings, leg warmers and green neon shirt to teach a yoga class and then dressed it up for the walk outside with the more stylish jackets and scarf?  Taking away the green shirt, I love this look.  It's elegant and sophisticated and very chic.  And definitely New Yorkesque.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum 'works out all of the time, eats right, impeccably right'

Channing Tatum recently told E! that Jenna 'works out all of the time, eats well, impeccably well' and you can totally tell.  Dressed in a red zippered jacket and black leggings, she doesn't look like she has really gained any weight, except for her bump.

Kim Kardashian is smoking hot in cool white at Oscar after party

This is a very late post and I'm sure that you've already seen these pictures but I had to post them anyway because I think that Kim Kardashian, although a little over tanned, looked smoking at Elton John's after party.

What I love about this dress is that it is sexy without looking trashy.  Too many times Kim has worn clothing that crosses the line into trashy territory simply because it is too tight or revealing in all of the wrong places.  This dress reveals some cleavage which is balanced by its floor sweeping length.  I guess it's like makeup - do the eyes and go easy on the lip; do the lips and go easy on the eyes.  Don't go revealing on your top half and mini-skirt on your bottom half.  Balance it out.

I do think that Kim needs to lay off the fake tan though.  Kim's hair has been well styled with this dress also - it is very sleek and tucked behind her ears which means that our attention stays on her beautiful dress.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum is gorgeous in lace at the Oscars

 There's been a few comments about how cringeworthy it is for Channing Tatum to be holding his pregnant wife's belly at the Oscars.  Don't agree people, don't agree.  I think it is so sweet that Channing is obviously, completely smitten with his wife and their unborn baby.

I loved the simpleness of the design of Jenna's dress - it is just a short sleeved, v neck maxi dress.  It's the choice of material, a black lace, that turns it from an everyday dress to a red carpet winner.  The scalloping on the neck and hemlines adds sophistication as well.

Nell McAndrew still doing an hour at the gym most days as well as power walking and swimming

Nell McAndrew has written a piece talking about her exercise regime while pregnant.  My previous posts on Nell (in a bikini and posing nude) have been some of the most read posts in this blog.

Nell has continued exercising throughout her pregnancy - only stopping jogging at 7 months.  Here is what she says about her current exercise routine in the final months of her pregnancy:

"I’m not regimented but I make sure I get an hour at the gym on most days. I now do only 15 to 30 minutes of cardio followed usually by walking lunges carrying weights (these can be done without weights if preferred), wide leg squats (everything is with a wide stance now as my belly gets in the way – I tend to look like a sumo wrestler when I pick things up from the floor!), lateral pull-downs, bent-over rows, bent-over flies, tricep dips, bicep curls and a few basic stretches. 

Every few days I try to do power-walking outside, doing hill repeats. It’s so much more enjoyable to do this outside and easier to squeeze into my day. This is great exercise to work your glutes as well. Kegel exercise, which helps to strengthen the pelvic floor, is one of the most important for all women to do, especially when pregnant and after childbirth. 

I also swim occasionally and my belly is making me more buoyant."

While this seems a little extreme, Nell was extremely fit prior to falling pregnant and is taking advice from her doctor and says:

"I am 39, perfectly healthy and haven’t had any pregnancy complications, so my doctors say there is just no reason to ‘put my feet up’, even now. But, aside from loving exercise, I also know I am doing what is best for my baby and preparing my body for labour and tending to a newborn."

She does sound a little judgey at times with comments like:

"NHS guidelines advise half an hour a day of a ‘moderately intensive activity’ such as swimming or brisk walking. To be honest, I get a 30-minute brisk walk on the school run, which should be a bare minimum."

I do agree with her that it is good to exercise while pregnant - especially since it usually helps to relieve stress and may help to keep the amount of weight gained in check.  But we definitely shouldn't hold Nell up as the standard to keep up with - she is super fit and at the extreme end of exercising during pregnancy.  And remember, have a chat to your doctor or obstetrician before beginning any exercise during pregnancy.

Fergie in Milan for Fashion Week; looks the part

Given that Fergie has only just announced her pregnancy, it's going to be some time before we see a bump.  Fergie is looking very chic in Milan dressed in black pants, white silk shirt, plaid waistcoat and a beige (leather?) jacket.

Fergie has her own unique style and once said:

 "Be aware of the trends, but only utilize the ones that work for you"

So I'm guessing that Fergie will just adapt her current style and still look GLAMOROUS (sorry had to put it in there).
