When Jessica Simpson is al la naturale she looks youthful. Case in point.

Well I classify this look as 'workout' or 'gym' gear.  Maybe Jessica Simpson has been to the gym and then gone shopping for baby gear?  Whatever the reasons behind the look don't matter.  I think she looks so good in these photographs.

I wish that I could get a message to her to wear her hair like this all of the time!  Stay away from the poofy big styled hair and go for this more natural look.  It is so much more flattering and she looks so much younger!

In terms of her outfit - what a cute gym outfit.  A pink / peach shirt, black leggings, black sneakers and a black sports jacket.  It's nice to see Jessica in a top that doesn't over expose her bust and I love the way her bump looks on the side on view.

Hilaria Thomas and her teeny tiny frame are stunning in blue

Hilaria Thomas reminds me of a girl (call her S) that I went to uni with. I used to say that she had 'bird bones' meaning a very small frame and what seemed like hollow limbs.  Twice a year we had a pub crawl and we would go searching through op-shops to find an outfit.  One year I found a shirt that I had to have.  I was feeling very good about myself because I was fit, healthy and very lean (I was a runner). So I pulled this top off the rack and slipped it on.  I asked my friend to help me button it up and the bloody thing didn't fit me!  So I put it back on the rack and found something else to wear.

Later that night, after a few beers (we were uni students, it was cheap), I saw S and, you guessed it, she was wearing the shirt, my shirt!  How did this make me feel bad?  S had a good rack on her.  And she still was able to wear this shirt.  Her frame was tiny.  She wasn't one of these 'turn sideways and you can't see them' girls either.

So now when I'm looking at these photographs of Hilaria, I'm seeing S.  Hilaria is not 'skinny'.  You don't look at her and see an emaciated (former) Nicole Richie-esq figure.  I see bird bones. Hilaria is a yoga instructor which has given her a very toned figure but she also has genetics in play that means that she will always look tiny.

The dress she is wearing is very flattering for her figure.  It shows off her tiny frame (f*** I sound like Tracy Anderson with freaking teeny tiny).  I'm not sure what material her dress is cut from but it works really well because it has structure as well as flowing over her curves.  The large belt above her bump highlights the distinction between bust and bump and draws attention to the tiniest (eek) part of her torso.  This trick will work for anyone by the way - during pregnancy your new waist is straight under the bust and a belt placed here will highlight it nicely.

Fishnet stockings and stilettos (how she does it?) finish the look, along with subtle makeup.

This look is a winner for me.

Peaches Geldof misses the mark

I've been a big fan of Peaches Geldof's pregnancy wardrobe.  And I like items of her outfit here, but I just don't like them all together.

Her dress is gorgeous and looks summery and non-maternity (which is probably is because she hasn't gained a lot of weight) and I don't think that adding a warm coat, scarf and leggings has successfully winterized it.  It should stay in the summer where it can be free and unencumbered!

The princess, flowery headband is a shocker.  If she wanted to wear an Alice Band (as my sister in law calls it), then a simple one would have looked much better.

Jessica Simpson looks so much better when she is 'un-styled' and natural

I did a post this morning about how I prefer Jessica Simpson with 'small hair'.  Although she is dressed really casually here, this is the kind of look that I love on Jessica.  She looks better when she is more natural looking - it makes her look younger and fresher.  When her hair and makeup are 'styled', personally, I think that it ages her.

So I was delighted so see these photographs of Jessica out shopping with the family (isn't her daughter just adorable?) dressed casually in jeans.  I admit it, I hate the shirt and the jeans are too long.

But I still prefer this look over most of her other looks.  Her flowing hair and soft pink toned makeup is so refreshing and the earrings add a lovely pop of colour.

Penelope Cruz shows off her bump in a bikini

Gosh Penelope Cruz looks good in these pictures.  At 38 years old and one child already, she must have good genes and a healthy approach to life.

Why this look on Kim Kardashian is one of her best

It's been a busy month or so for me with work and kid's birthdays and I'm slowly making my way through my archive of photographs.

There's been so much commentary in the media on Kim's pregnancy wardrobe.  That's fairly normal because of our (me included) celebrity obsessed culture.  Where I draw the line though is the continually harassment of Kim over her weight gain.  I can only imagine how stressful it must be to have the world trying to guess how many kilograms you have put on.

I try to keep blog about the clothes that celebrities are wearing and whether I think that they suit their body size and shape.  And I've said it before, I have always been a fan of Kim's body because I think that she represents more of us, normal folk, compared to the model, skinny-pregnancy celebrities.

Having said all of that, I wish that Kim would pay more attention to what she is wearing and realise that it isn't always possible to wear non-maternity clothes as maternity.  They don't fit well and must surely be uncomfortable.  Maybe as Kim's pregnancy progresses, she'll be like the rest of us and look for stylist comfortable clothes.

Anyway, here are some photographs of Kim at the red carpet premiere of a movie that she is in.  And I may be in the minority, but I love this look!  Kim is sophisticated in this outfit.

  •  The top (dress?) is very detailed with lace, beading and sequins.  But is is very modest and is a great cut and shape for Kim's figure.  The v-neckline elongates Kim's figure and the empire cut waist emphasises the distinction between bust and bump (always a good thing).  The only change I would possible make to this top is to get rid of the length at the back.  Yes, it is a red carpet event but surely this top isn't meant to be worn this long normally, right?
  • The leather pants are fabulous!  Enough said.
  • I love that with the busy-ness of the outfit, Kim has kept her makeup and hairstyle simple.  Her sleek ponytail means that attention is not detracted from the outfit.
  • Her shoes, as always, are lovely.  I want them.

What Jenna Dewan-Tatum can teach us about wearing a maxi-dress

Yesterday I posted a massive post titled Secrets of Hollywood A-Listers: How to Wear a Maxi Dress while Pregnant.  It is a complete guide to show you how the celebs dress their bumps in maxi dress and why they always look so good.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum was featured in this post and for good reason.  She really know how to dress her bump and look fabulous all of the time.  These photographs are no exception.

I love what Jenna has done with this outfit.  She's taken a maxi-dress and transformed it into casual chic day wear.  Here's how she did it:

  • Jenna's maxi-dress is a blank canvas as it is a solid neutral colour in chocolate brown.  Solid neutral colours are a great base and by adding a jacket, the look can be transformed from day to night.
  • The very low v-neck is still relatively modest and by showing some skin, it makes Jenna look taller and leaner.
  • The dress has an empire waistline (meaning that it is fitted just under the bust and flows over the bump) which is a very flattering style during pregnancy as it emphasises the smallest part of your waist (your 'new waist').
  • The body of the dress is very voluminous - probably the only thing that I would change.  I think that Jenna could have had a few inches taken off the bottom to stop it from touching the ground when she walks.  But as her pregnancy progresses, her bump will protrude more and the dress will get shorter.
  • The denim jacket is not a maternity jacket but Jenna is still able to wear it by leaving it unbuttoned.  This is a great way to extend the life of your non-maternity wardrobe well into your pregnancy.
  • The denim jacket also dresses down the look - making it suitable for daytime casual wear.  This look could easily be transformed to nighttime wear by adding a black bolero jacket or even a black leather jacket or blazer.
  • Jenna has kept the accessories very simple with a delicate gold necklace and an oversized black bag.  In the summertime, you could swap the denim jacket for a chunky, beaded necklace.
  • Jenna has completed the look with a pair of (really high) wedge shoes.
So there you have it - another chic look from Jenna.  Don't you wish that you had her pregnancy wardrobe?

Jessica Simpson looks better with 'smaller hair'

I'm not sure that I'll ever understand the 'big hair' look that Jessica is a fan of.  I think that Jess looks so much younger and more attractive when her hair is not styled.  Like how she looks here.  So you can probably guess that I don't think that she looks her best on her appearance on Ellen in these photographs.

Although her hair does not have as much volume as it usually does, which is a good thing.  But it's still too big for my liking.

Otherwise, Jessica is looking healthy and so happy. Her purple/blue dress is really flattering with a v-neck which, by showing off a bit of skin (but not too much), elongates her figure and makes her look leaner.  The length, just above her knees, is perfect and the short sleeves would be suitable for most women (especially if you have larger arms as it will hide any wobbly bits). I can't see her shoes, but I'm guessing that she's wearing heels, big ones.
