Do you know the four reasons why Kim Kardashian looks chic in this outfit

We have a winner ladies and gents!  After the not-so-great start to Kim's maternity wear wardrobe, she has stumbled onto greatness.  Okay, so I might be overdoing it but this is one of Kim's best looks in months.

Why is it so good?

Reason number one:  It is not too revealing

Kim's made more than a few mistakes in the past in revealing far too much skin and cleavage.  This outfit of skinny black jeans, black top and beige jacket gives Kim a more classic, more refined look.

Reason number two:  It's all about the colour combination

Wearing black layers close to your body is a great way of minimising your bump and chest area (provided that the cut of the clothes is flattering).  You can then add dimension by layering colour in the form of jackets, coats or cardigans.  If you live in a warmer climate you could wear a black or navy tank and then a short sleeve, unbuttoned oxford shirt in a lighter colour.

Reason number three:  Highlight your best bits

I'm not sure how many of you agree with me, but I think that Kim has great legs.  They are shapely always look great when she wears jeans or leggings that cut off at the ankle.  I certainly couldn't wear stilettos when pregnant, hell, I can't even wear them now, but if you can wear them they will elongate your legs and make them look longer and slimmer.  They might also cause you to fall over and hurt yourself so if you do wear them, be careful, please!  From those side on photographs of Kim, her legs look amazing.

Reason number four:  Watch where your jacket falls

If you are petite (less than 5'2") then it's really important to watch where your jacket ends.  Too often, we (I'm just nudging 5'1" in heels) buy clothes for 'normal' (ha) people and they don't fit well.  Jackets need to sit either above your widest part or below your widest part to make you look slimmer.  If the jacket sits at the widest part of your hips, well, you are just asking for everyone to focus on that area and for your hips to double in size, and you didn't get to eat the chocolate brownies to get there.

Kim's jacket just makes it above her widest section of her hips and it really pays off.

So keep this in mind when dressing your bump (or even when dressing when you're not pregnant) and you'll look chic and gorgeous.
